Yesterday morning during storytime at the library, Micah decided that crayons aren’t just good to eat, they’re good for coloring. When craft time ended and the staff workers started putting the crayons away, he cried like his little heart was breaking. Thank God they have a drinking fountain, where he washed away his sorrows with lukewarm, metallic water. Otherwise he might have cried the whole way home.
When Adam got home from work later he pulled out some old blue print paper (which is not actually blue these days), and spread markers all over the table.
**Aside** Please don’t make fun of my poor baby’s mad scientist hair. We know we should probably trim it at some point. But for now it’s just so soft and fuzzy that we have to let it grow. And also please ignore the fact that Micah’s stylish, lime green onesie is about to burst at the seams. He does have clothes that fit him, I promise. This was just the first thing I grabbed out his drawer in a chaotic moment.
The kids entertained themselves a bit too long, to the point where they’d colored all over their arms and faces. But before that happened, I couldn’t help admiring the way Micah was so focused on what he was doing. Kids have short attention spans, but they generally don’t try to multitask. Maybe that’s why they aren’t stressed out the way adults usually are. Well, that and the total lack of responsibility in their lives.
Aren’t kids fascinating? Thanks for letting me ramble for a few minutes about mine.
Soooo precious! This made me laugh, thanks
